Reflections From My True Self

Remembering Who I Really Am

There’s a hush I feel when I quiet my mind, sometimes it opens and unfolds into an unexplored vastness that is simultaneously familiar.

And when I do this, quiet my mind, as my feet step on soil and grass and fallen leaves; when I move through dappled sunlight and under leafy branches, my path suddenly crossed by a dragonfly; when I come upon a dark pond so still that even the frogs and the heron, standing immobile on one foot, appear to be made of stone, then there is a stillness that washes over my body and releases what I have been unaware has been locked in my tissue, holding my muscles tight, contracted.

When I sit on the earth, under the open sky and hear the song of bird, cricket, grass, heart, and dream alike, I can remember what it is to expand again in light.
