Reflections From My True Self

Remembering Who I Really Am

Fire Bearer

I am like the fire bearer, whose task was to continuously keep a burning flame, no matter how small, long enough to reach the camp where a new bonfire would be built at day’s end.

My daily task is to keep the flame of remembering my Self alight, continuously, throughout my day.

The tiny, flickering flame of recognition warms me entire. And when it gently snuffs into thick smoke, I can carry on with my hands wrapped around the clay bowl and the twigs and leaves that will suddenly spark into fire again, when I blow gently enough, from the right angle.
